BROWZWEAR ANDN OPTITEX

VStitcher is the industry’s leading 3D virtual prototyping solution for developers, pattern makers and technical designers. With VStitcher, you can instantly transform 2D patterns into realistic 3D prototypes or develop new patterns from start to finish.

Optitex develops 3D virtual prototyping and 2D CAD/CAM pattern and fashion design software that is innovative and easy-to-use.

Project:

At my time at Oregon State University we had the opportunity to work with 3D programs to convert our patterns digitally. Below you will see how I turned a swim set paper pattern and created a different variation through VStitcher and executed it as if bringing it into production including a technical package of the garment, a 3D rendering and a marker report made through Optitex.

Mood Board -

I created a mood board of my inspiration for this SS18 Swim line - My inspirations came from vintage style swimsuits with high waists and high leg bikinis. The color scheme is neutral with pops of natural colors from nature

1. Paper Pattern -

I took a picture of my paper pattern next to a 5x5 square to get the ratio more accurate when I import the file into VStitcher

2. Paper Pattern Rendered into VStitcher -

I traced the front and the back of my paper pattern and tentatively stitched the garment together and dressed it on my mannequin to see how the garment would fit and see what kind of corrections I would need to make on Optitex

3. Variation -

I took my original bikini bottom and recreated a new variation by moving a few points and rescaled the pattern if needed. I also drew a swim top right in VStitcher and stitched it together to see how it would fit in 3D

1. Export into Optitex -

I imported the pattern from Vstitcher into Optitex to be able to walk the pattern, check garment measurements, and check seam measurements. In Optitex I was able to also grade my pattern from XS-XL, my base pattern starts at a medium

2. Measurements -

With my measurements made in Optitex I am able to export the data into an excel sheet and add it directly into my technical package

1. Export into another Optitex program Marker -

I imported the pattern from Optitex into Marker and the program gives you efficiency, Yield, Width, and Length of the pattern pieces

Final 3D Rendering-

I brought the garment back into VStitcher after making corrections in Optitex finalized the garments with added colors, textures, and trims.
